I have counseled hundreds of businesses in my years as a consultant and one question I get a lot is, “Should I become a member of the….” Chamber of Commerce, Local Merchant’s Group or Industry Networking Organization? My answer is always the same. “Yes, if you are going to BE a member.” You see one can be counted as “A” member but that is not the same as “BEING” a member. You have to participate. You need to take part in the operations and events of the membership or you are just not getting the most bang for you buck.
