SME Chapter 18 had its December Exec Board Meeting this morning at 7 AM. The following items and event dates were
discussed and plans were made to update the chapter’s meeting/events calendar on the website.
1.) The December dinner meeting will take place at Franco’s Restaurant on 5th Street in the Oregon District, on Wed-
nesday evening, 13-Dec 2017. A social hour starting at 5:30 PM, with a sit down dinner. It will follow between 6 and
6:30 PM for all Chapter 18 members & their guests. Please email or call one of the one of the Chapter 18 Exec Board
members, if you plan to attend the dinner event or the social hour.
2.) Plans were made to try to setup a plant tour of Norwood Medical for an evening tour for the month of January 2018.
If this tour can be arranged, details will be posted on the chapter’s website and an email announcement will be sent out
to the membership asap.
3.) Plans were made for TechFest 2018 that takes place at Sinclair CC during the month of February ’18. Chapter 18
will also be making a cash contribution to the TechFest 2018 event, as it has done the past several years. Chapter 18
will again be using the Haas CNC machines in Sinclair’s Bldg #11, Rm #141 on the 1st floor.
4.) Plans for the new 2018 SME Chapter 18 Exec Board are still being made at this time, since current Chapter Chairman,
Adam Gehret, and Chapter Treasurer, Bill Brownsberger, are stepping aside at the end of this year.
5.) A discussion concerning UD’s SME Student Chapter #70 also took place during the exec AM meeting. And Chapter 18
will continue to assist UD’s School of Engineering Technology to help re-establish the student chapter at UD in 2018.
